One Crazy Russian Ride

One Crazy Russian Ride

We know Russia makes cars. But what we didn’t expect is that they’ll be crazy enough to do something like this. Honestly, we have no idea what the owner of this vehicle wanted to do. What we’re trying to guess here is that he (or she) wanted the car to come off as a high-powered machine thanks to its multiple thrusters. However, when you’re using beat up mufflers to show this, it simply doesn’t fly. Anyway, if you still want to see what the folks at Russia have been doing to their rides, feel free to browse through the list compiled by the people from English Russia. You’ll be surprised as to what crazy things these Russians have done with their rides.

Restored Vehicle Made From Wood

Restored Vehicle Made From Wood

eBay offers a lot of items for sale. Some are weird while some can be really cool. One perfect example is this vintage 1952 Ariel Woody.

Spotted online by the folks at Ride Lust, this vehicle is a mish-mash of everything vintage. First, it sports the engine and transmission of a 1952 Ariel Square motorcycle. Second, the suspension system it’s using is taken from a 1950 Citroen. Finally, unlike the other vehicles you’d see posted on eBay, this car carries a wooden exterior.

Now what could’ve inspired someone to pull off something like this? Well, in case you’re wondering, it was actually a boat builder who’s been in the industry since 1950. That pretty much answers why the car comes with a wooden body.

So if you’re looking to add something new and unique to your collection, check out this ’53 Ariel Woody. It may not be as tough as the real cars, but it sure is fun to look at.

El Camino Becomes “El Pickup”

El Camino Becomes “El Pickup”

Mud bogging is a popular off-road activity in the United States. But since it involves having your vehicle go through mud, the last thing you want is to invest in a pickup or a truck that costs a fortune. So how do you get a ride that you can drive through mud without worrying about its condition? Simple, you just have to make one. And that’s what the owner of this mud bogger El Camino did. Equipping the vintage car with a four-wheel drive feature, a 408ci small-block engine, a nitrous bottle, and a set of 35-inch wheels, we have a feeling that this baby can give its competitors a run for their money. How about you?

Classic Third-Gen Chevrolet Inline Six Engine Remembered

Classic Third-Gen Chevrolet Inline Six Engine Remembered

No matter how cool your car looks, if its engine can’t cough up power, it’s pretty much useless. So to avoid customers from considering its vehicles useless back in the day, Chevrolet developed the Third-Gen Chevrolet Inline Six. This engine was produced in 1962 and was used until 1988. Now the reason why it lasted that long was its array of different features. It came with a positive shift starter, a full-flow oil filter and a ventilating system for its crankcase. The engine also comes in various cubic displacements ranging from 153, 194, 215, 230, 250, and 292 cubic inch displacements. As a result, drivers who equipped the Inline Six onto their vehicles got to enjoy a boost in horsepower the moment they take their rides to the street. So if you thought older vehicles were all about looks, think again. The Third-Gen Chevrolet Inline Six made sure that they were able to dish out superior performance as well.

A List Of Your Daddy’s Hood Scoops

A List Of Your Daddy’s Hood Scoops

Even though your dad may be a bit square and boring now, there was a time when he was just as cool as you. And it was during this time that he – just like you – had a fancy for customizing their cars. Of course, you’d think that back in the day, they had very limited options to choose from. Well, that’s where you’re wrong. Apparently, they had a whole catalog. And what we have right here are just for hood scoops. So just to give you an idea as to what classic hood scoops used to look like, here are some images gathered by the peeps from Jalopnik. The images were taken from a very old 1975 JC Whitney catalog. And, should you be reading this, make sure you have your dad go through it as well. It’s bound to bring back some memories for him.

What Happens When You Drive A Mach 1 Cobra At High Speeds

What Happens When You Drive A Mach 1 Cobra At High Speeds

Shock would probably be the initial reaction that the picture above would likely generate. Shock again will be the other reaction that will be coming from you when you find out that the person driving this thing managed to get away alive. Yup, that’s right. The driver got out of this mess alive and kicking.

Prior to looking like this, this wreck-of-a-vehicle once sported a classic Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet engine. Since it has the words Mach 1 attached to it, it’s safe to say that this vehicle can go really, really, fast. And according to the account of its owner Dave, the guy who survived this fatal crash, that’s how he was actually driving when the accident occurred.

The incident happened during December (the year and date wasn’t mentioned but it probably happened in the 80’s). After changing the tires of his ride to studded tires to help him get through the snow, he went out but ended up driving too fast. This caused him to hit a cable guardrail while trying to maneuver his way into a corner of the road. That was the last thing David remembered. A minute after the accident, he just found himself waking up since two guys were screaming at him. Both were amazed that he was able to survive the horrific accident. The only thing that happened to David was that he ended up slamming his head onto his steering wheel. Other than that, he had no other major injuries. Talk about a lucky break.

So in case you own a car that has an engine that’s as fast as David’s Mach 1 428 Cobra, remember one thing: make sure you drive carefully. Not every one is going to be as lucky as David here who managed to escape unscathed from a catastrophic accident.

Thinking of tuning up your old car to help it catch up with the times but you don’t know what part to get? Well, with all the parts being sold – both for vintage and modern vehicles – finding what you really need can be pretty daunting. That’s why the people at Rod and Custom came up with a selection of parts which they feel your car needs to make it in this world. Here are some things that you might want to consider equipping your ride with.

Deeds Engineering Billet Hangers – these exhaust components from Deeds Engineering (www.deedsengineering.com) do a good job of reducing the exhaust vibration transfer to your vehicle’s chassis thanks to their soft high-temperature bushing. They come in a polished and unpolished finish and are packed with stainless steel clamps.

Scavenger Pipes – thanks to the people at Kool Rides (www.koolrides.biz), these pipes with flared ends are making a comeback. Measuring at 471/21/2 inches, these pipes are chrome plated, flare-tipped on one end, and shaped liked a baloney on the other. They can be fitted over 2-inch pipes and are easily clamped or welded in place.

Classic Tube Tube-Straightener Tool – Unless you’re as strong as the Hulk, you’ll find it difficult to straighten out some of your car’s tubing using your bare hands. But thanks to this nifty gadget from Classic Tube (www.classictube.com), you won’t have to worry about exerting effort to bend your car’s tubing. Just place it in this contraption and, viola! You’ve got your straight tube without breaking a sweat.

CCM Rod Shop Emblems – What’s a customizing job without accessories to spruce up your interior? Well, thanks to the creative minds of CCM Rod Shop (www.ccmrodshop.com), you now have a chic-looking emblem which you can mount on your upholstery, glovebox, a column drop, valve covers or wherever you want people to see it.

CompCams Thumpr Cam and Geardrive Kits – Is your engine’s bite worse than its bark? Well, if you want it to make some noise without compromising its “cruising” ability, then the components from CompCams’s (www.compcams.com) Thumpr Cam and Geardrive Kit can help you with that. Each kit comes with hydraulic flat tappets, a roller cam, a geardrive, and a three-keyway crank sprocket.

Double JJ Enterprises Zephyr Headlights – Brighten up your day and the road ahead with these bright zephyr headlights from Double JJ Enterprises (www.doublejjenterprises.com). Each headlight come with a 12 and 14 gauge color-coded wiring, park and turn signal functions, and a stainless steel housing to keep them safe.

Edelbrock Pro-Flo XT Electronic Fuel-Injection System – “Save on gas, save on cash.” Well, it’s a rip-off of the popular Heroes catchphrase “Save the cheerleader, save the world” but I just couldn’t help borrowing (not stealing, mind you) it to describe what you’ll get out of using this product. Brought to us by Edelbrock (www.edelbrock.com), this system is packed with an ECU that features fully sequential injection, a handheld tuning module that can help you tune your ride without a laptop, pre-defined calibrations, and wideband O2 sensor compatibility. At this rate, you’ll definitely be able to keep your car from guzzling huge quantities of gas.

These are just some of the things worth getting which you can use in tuning your ride. For more components, go ahead check out the comprehensive list provided by Rod and Custom at their official web site.
