Customization may sometimes require a little body work. But this dude took it to the extreme when he decided to convert a 1992 VW Golf and cut it down to size. Literally. George, who happens to work for VWVortex cut out the rear portion of the car and then put the remaining portions together. To get a set of doors that would fit seamless into the vehicle, he got half of the front door and half of the rear door and put them together.

While it is a pretty nifty idea, we still prefer the sturdiness of the original VW Golf. Let’s face it - you wouldn’t want to be caught between two trucks while you’re driving this toy. Trust us, just like a bully would pick on a geeky kid, those trucks will end up owning you. And that’s something that can scar you for life.

Part of our culture is to treat old people with respect. It’s unfortunate that this doesn’t apply to automobiles. Take this 1966 Corvette Stingray for example. During its heyday, it probably picked up more chicks than any import car. But instead of being taken cared off, it ended up getting left out to rot between two warehouses in Seattle.

While it’s said to suffer from fiberglass damage at its right rear area, the vehicle in general looks pristine. A little re-touching here and there will get it back on its feet (or wheels) again.

Hopefully its owner decides to work on bringing this classic beauty back to life once again. It’s such a shame to something as sleek as this go to waste.

The Mustang helped in making Ford famous. But since the company didn’t want to be remembered for being a “one-hit wonder”, it wanted to have another vehicle that achieved the same success as the Mustang. And since the release of the Ford Falcon didn’t pan out well, Ford decided to produce a compact car called the Maverick.

Although a number of versions were produced from 1970 to 1979, the version that stood out the most in our eyes was the 1971 version. Pictured above, this vehicle came in a two-door and four-door version. It also came with a vinyl roof and a 302 CID V-8 engine that could produce 210 horsepower. Finally, Ford developed the Grabber theme package for this compact car. The package enabled the Maverick to sport a unique Dual Dome hood.

Although the car wasn’t able to beat the Mustang in terms of popularity during the time it was being produced, the Maverick did manage to become popular among some collectors today. It even has a version produced by Hot Wheels.

So if you’re looking to add a classic car to your collection or you’re simply after getting a cheap alternative to a Mustang, be sure you give the ’71 Ford Maverick a try.

One of the many ill-fated cars developed by Ford is the Mercury Lynx. Produced in 1981, this compact car was supposed to be a rehashed version of the Ford Escort. It came in three body styles: a 3-door hatchback, a 4-door station wagon, and a 5-door hatchback. The car also sported different sets of engine during its production run which included a 1.6 L CVH I4, 1.9 L CVH I4, and a 2.0 L Mazda RF diesel I4.

Unfortunately, different body styles and engine options weren’t enough to convince people to go crazy for the Mercury Lynx. That’s why after more than 5 years of declining sales, Ford decided to pull the plug in 1987.

Even though it wasn’t a hit, the Mercury Lynx did help pave the way for other (and even better) vehicles to follow suit, most notably the Mercury tracer. So even though it wasn’t a success in terms of sales, it helped Ford realize their mistakes, allowing the company to come up with a better replacement. It’s not the type of legacy you’d like to leave behind, but at least you still have a legacy nonetheless.

Want to impress a girl on a first date? Well, then try to make friends with Troy Trepanier. Who’s he? Well, he’s the guy who managed to spruce up an ordinary looking Chevy Nova and make it look like sleek, chick-magnet car. If the image above doesn’t convince you otherwise, we don’t know what will.

Sporting the name Notorious, Troy’s Chevy Nova sports an all-out black finish. Heck, he even equipped the car with a set of black rims to keep up with his all-black theme. While the Notorious Chevy Nova already sports a look that would make women rip their clothes off for you, it actually has more to offer than just its good looks.

Underneath the hood, the Notorious Chevy Nova sports a 572 cubic inch V-8 Procharger engine. Although no information was given out as to how much horsepower it can produce, we’d like to guess that it’s capable of driving past your beat-up ride. Aside from having a powerful engine, Troy equipped his Notorious Chevy Nova with a 4L80E transmission, a 3.50 rear gear with a Detroit Locker, a MSD ignition, a 3″ Flowmaster exhaust, Baer 14″ brakes, and a RacePac Data Logger dash.

With the hardware that this vehicle is packing, be thankful that the Notorious Chevy Nova is on display. If you ever see this baby on the road, it’s bound to leave you behind, without your pride, dignity, and probably your date. Three things, my friend that you wouldn’t want to be without. Trust us.

Remember Wayne and Garth from Wayne’s World? These two dudes were the hippest cats during the start of the 90’s. Unfortunately, even though they ran a cable program that was popular in their hometown, they weren’t financially well enough to run around in a slick car. They just got along with a flame-decaled AMC Pacer.

Branded as “nerd car”, the AMC Pacer was one of the vehicles produced in the 70’s that made some waves during its release. Sporting three types of engine options during its run from 1975 to 1980 (3.8-liter I6, 4.2-liter I6, and a 5-liter V8 engines), the AMC Pacer was the company’s answer to the anticipated increase in demand for small vehicles. While not appealing to look at (even if AMC claimed that it carried a futuristic design), the two-door compact automobile managed to get some favorable reviews from the press. Road & Track April 1975 magazine described the AMC Pacer as being “bold, clean, and unique.” Car and Driver mentioned in its February 1975 issue that the AMC Pacer was “the first real urban transporter.” Of course, not every one was keen on the AMC Pacer. Some questioned the car’s looks and its overall performance on the road.

However, despite all that, the AMC Pacer is still considered one of the most-sought after vehicles by collectors. A price for a well-maintained Pacer can fetch an amount ranging from $4,000 to $6,000. The vehicle has even been given ownership support by various AMC car clubs. All this, despite not having a look to die for. Thanks to this renewed interest in this compact vehicle, don’t be surprised if you’ve been able see a number of AMC Pacer littered around the streets in an area near you.

Any car that has the name Jetfire attached to it must be a really cool car. And when looking at the 1962-1963 Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire, it actually is. Aside from looking slick, it also runs really fast. Well, it does happen to have the name Jetfire after all, right?

The Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire is actually a spin-off of the Oldsmobile compact, a sedan that enjoyed two sets of production runs with first starting in 1961 and lasting until 1981. The second run, which was shorter compared to the first lasted from 1997 to 1999. So what makes the 1962-1963 Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire a really special car?

Well, it’s actually considered an originator of some sort. That’s because it’s the first vehicle to carry a turbocharged V-8 engine. Combined with fuel injection, this Turbo-Rocket engine allowed the muscle car to produce one horsepower for every cubic inch of displacement. All-in-all, this allowed the car to emit a total horsepower amounting to 215 bhp and produce 301 lb-ft of torque. And in terms of how fast it can go, it only takes 9.2 seconds for the 1962-1963 Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire to go from 0 to 60 mph. It also has the ability to hit the top speed of 110 mph should you feel like testing its maximum potential.

Aside from having a powerful engine, the 1962-1963 Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire sported bucket seats, a console and a vacuum gauge. Its size was also increased, particularly for ’63 models, where it measured at 192.2 inches.

Of course, the 1962-1963 Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire isn’t without its flaws. First, the vehicle is known to have a soft suspension. Second, it doesn’t have a tachometer to show its RPM reading. Third, drivers have complained about its poor shift quality for the automatic and four-speed transmission.

But despite its flaws, the 1962-1963 Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire is definitely one of the classic cars you should be on the lookout for. Especially since it’s one of the few automobiles that has a rare combination of power and beauty.

Every car company has that one car that made them great. And for the folks at BMW, that car would be BMW 2002. The funny part here is that, even though it carries the number 2002, this compact sporting sedan was actually produced from 1968 to 1976. I guess they decided to use 2002 since it sounds a lot better than any number between 1968 and 1970.

So, what was in the BMW 2002 that made BMW famous? Well, it all boils down to its engines. The first engine used was a 1990 cc engine. It was incorporated into the two variants of the 2002 namely the 2002ti and the 2002 tii. With the help of this engine, the 2002ti was able to produce 120 bhp while the 2002 tii was capable of unleashing 130 bhp. A variant, dubbed the 2002 Turbo, also carried an engine that helped give BMW its first turbocharged vehicle. With its help, the 2002 Turbo was able to dish out 170 bhp at 5,800 rpm and 177 lbs-ft of torque.

During its release, the BMW 2002 was given two types of body styles giving buyers more options. One was the 2-door sedan trim and the other was the 3-door liftback.

Although it may not be much to look at compared to BMW’s newer releases, keep in mind that if it wasn’t for this vehicle, BMW wouldn’t be as popular as it is today. So if ever you see one on the road, don’t fail to give it a little love and respect.

A nova is defined as a nuclear explosion of a white dwarf star. While nothing of this occurs when you drive a Chevrolet Nova, it did explode into the scene when it was released, making it the top model of the Chevy II vehicle line. Out of its five generations, the one that stands out the most is the 1968 version of the Nova. Let’s take a peek at what made this vehicle tick in terms of the different engines it had and the features that made it unique.

Under the hood: The 1968 Chevrolet Nova underwent a number of engine changes starting with the 2.51-liter, four-cylinder engine. This engine was offered until 1970 but was stopped due to lack of demand. The more popular engine choice for this car turned out to be the 4.1-liter, six-cylinder engine and the 5.03-liter V8 engine. The engines were paired up with a semi-automatic transmission dubbed the Torque-Drive, which was based on the Powerglide transmission. This became available for the four and six-cylinder engines. A two-speed Powerglide was also made available along with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic, which was used predominantly by V8 engines.

Special Features: Although the 1968 Chevrolet Nova underwent numerous engine changes, in terms of its features, only two things stand out. One was its front subframe assembly. This assembly had a separate subframe that contained the powertrain and front suspension. The second – although not as crucial as the first – involved a change in nameplate. The 1968 Chevrolet Nova was the last version to carry the Chevy II nameplate.

Muck like its galactic namesake, the 1968 Chevrolet Nova was able to make an impact upon its release. That’s why it’s no surprise that even today, some are still willing to be caught driving in one. I know I wouldn’t mind.
