The ’69 Chevrolet Camaro COPO is an endangered species. And managing to get one can cost you a fortune. So if you can’t find this car or you’re having a hard time forking the money to get one, then you might want to settle for this replica being sold at eBay.

Priced at $76,000, the replica of the ’69 Chevrolet Camaro COPO still comes off as expensive, but at least you won’t have to sell everything (including your parents) that you own. According to the specs posted on eBay, the vehicle comes with an 8-cylinder engine that runs on gasoline. It sports a 4-speed manual transmission and comes in an all-black interior. The seller even noted that this baby has managed to snag a number of awards as well.

So if you can’t get hold of an original ’69 Chevrolet Camaro COPO, then here’s your chance to get a replica of it. It may not be real, but at the very least, you can have people think that you’re driving the real thing.

Ford Mustangs are considered one of the coolest cars created. But even these took a dip at one time. This occurred when Ford released its 1973 Mustang. Since it deviated from the look of its 1964 predecessors, fans clamored for Ford to bring back the original Mustang look. This led to the development of the 1974 Ford Mustang II.

By mimicking the size, shape, and style of the 1964 Ford Mustang, the 1974 Ford Mustang II not only won back the hearts of die-hard Mustang fans, it also managed to snag Motor Trend magazine’s Car of the Year award.

Competing against the Toyota Celica and Datsun 280Z, the 1974 Ford Mustang II carried two types of engines. The first is the standard V-6 Mach 1 engine, while the second is the optional 2.8-liters V-6 engine. This marked the time that Mustangs used an engine other than the standard V-8 option. Along with the change in engine, the 1974 Ford Mustang II also sported a pillarless body style, had fixed rear windows, and a chrome covered B-pillar that shared some similarities to the look of a hardtop. Aside from the changes to its look, the 1974 Ford Mustang II also came in two body styles: a coupe and a three-door hatchback.

By listening to the demands of its long-time fans, Ford was able to resuscitate its Ford Mustang line back to life. The 1974 Ford Mustang II was able to sell a total of 296,041 units during its production run making it the 6th best selling Mustang ever. This just proves that the customers are – if not most of the time – always right.

Okay, if you’re a fan of vintage cars, then Guy Overfelt should now be considered one of your favorite artists. Now who is Guy Overfelt you ask? No, he doesn’t overhaul or design vintage cars, although his new piece of work could help him go into that direction. He’s the “guy” who’s responsible for that inflated Pontiac Trans Am pictured above.

An installation artist, Guy Overfelt worked on this inflated Pontiac Trans Am as part of his exhibition which will be held at Emeryville, California. The inflated car will be part of the exhibit entitled Warhol Live and will be sponsored by the de Young Museum. Opening night will be this Friday, March 6 and carries a 1960 dress code. The exhibit will start from 6pm and will last until 11pm. That gives you most of the evening to admire the blow-up Pontiac Trans Am.

So, what make the inflated Pontiac Trans Am great? Well for one, the installation art does actually resemble the real thing in terms of size. Aside from that, the mix of colors used by Guy made the inflated car look as sleek as the real Pontiac Trans Am. We in particular like the details of the Trans Am’s rear and wheels. If only this thing happened to be real.

So if the inflated Pontiac Trans Am got your attention and you’d like to see more of it, make sure that you pay a visit to the Warhol Live exhibition held at the de Young Museum. This installation art is definitely something worth seeing.

Oh, and if you’d like to get to know more about Guy Overfelt and his past works, make sure to drop by his web site at http://www.thinkcontext.com. It contains a catalog of images showcasing his various works as well as a list of his past and upcoming shows.

Now this would have been a nice purchase. Unfortunately, bidding for this classic 1985 Camaro IROC Z28 recently came to an end at eBay. But even though we can’t bid for this classic car anymore, let’s still try to take a look at what this ride had to offer its new owner.

According to the details gathered, this 1985 Camaro IROC Z28 sports an 8-cylinder engine. Although it’s not indicated on the eBay page, it could probably be the same 4-barrel engine that was originally used for this sports car. Now in case you’re unaware, the IROC Z28 holds the distinction of being the first Camaro to sport the Tuned Port Injection engine. This engine offers 305 cubic inches of displacement allowing the car to produce the up to 215 horsepower. Aside from this powerful engine, the 1985 Camaro IROC Z28 also comes with a four-speed automatic transmission, a set of 16” 5-spoke alloy rims that’s paired with a 245/50ZR16 tires courtesy of Corvette.

Although there’s a possibility that details about the vehicle mentioned above might not be applicable anymore, it doesn’t necessarily mean that this car wasn’t worth getting. Based on the information given by the seller, this 1985 Camaro IROC Z28 just recorded 4.3 miles on its odometer. Of course, the fact that it’s been stuck in a warehouse for 23 years could account for that, but at least it’s safe to say that the car hasn’t been pushed to the limits. And given that this is one of those cars you had to have during its heyday, its owner would just have to spend a little time (and money) to have something that other car owners would die for.

So if you’re on the lookout for the next instant classic to be held up for auction, make sure to keep checking back on eBay. Who knows, you might get lucky and land something as cool as this 1985 Camaro IROC Z28.

Don’t know what to give your dad this Christmas? Well, why not show him some love by getting this 1965 Shelby GT 350 R Mustang? It’s probably something he remembers seeing when he was kid.

Now why get this version of the Mustang over its other siblings? Well, that’s because this Mustang is ultra rare. According to reports (and the press release given by the seller), only one out of 35 of these babies were produced during its time. Not only that, the seller has gathered additional info that only one out of 25 of these vintage cars exist to date.

Also, according to the seller, this specific Mustang has extensive racing experience as it’s been used in the South American circuit. It even managed to become the South American Champion as well as the Peruvian National Champion during the 60’s.

So if this sparked a light bulb in your head, just be prepared to fork up a huge sum of money. Currently, this 1965 Shelby GT 350 R Mustang is being touted as the most expensive Craigslisted car today. Its price tag is set at $875,000. That’s almost hitting the one million barrier, right? Well, that’s true. But think about the big smile that you’ll be putting on your dad’s face when you hand him the keys. That’s a MasterCard moment for you, right there: priceless.

You’ve heard of the hero called the Green Hornet, right? A crime fighter that’s similar to Batman, except that instead of wearing a dark blue and gray attire, he wears green. If you have, the next question is: have you ever heard of the Black Hornet? No, this isn’t the Green Hornet’s sibling nor is it one of the villains that he faced in one of his adventures. It’s actually a reproduction based on the prototype car developed by Carroll Shelby in 1968, which coincidentally, was also called the Green Hornet.

The Black Hornet is actually a 1968 Mustang. Painted black (hence the Black Hornet name), production of this vehicle was actually approved by Carroll Shelby himself since this vehicle will be auctioned off for his Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation.

Inside the Black Hornet is a 428 Cobra Jet V-8 engine, which is similar to the engine used by the prototype Green Hornet. The engine is accompanied by a 4-speed top loader transmission. It’s also equipped with Edelbrock aluminum heads, power steering, power brakes, and a set of Shelby 10-spoke wheels. The Black Hornet is very similar to the Green Hornet prototype, with the only difference (aside from their names) is that the Green Hornet has an independent rear suspension.

The current plan for the Black Hornet to go on the auction block will be on the 2nd of December. The auction will be handled by eBay, with the car carrying a starting bid of $100,000.

Now if you feel like owning this Black Hornet, here’s your chance to get it. Not only will you be getting a cool ride that has a cool name, you’re money will end up going to a good cause as well. That’ll make you just as heroic as the Green Hornet, minus the mask and the quirky green outfit.

Before I get the ball rolling, let me first welcome you to Rearviewed, a blog that’s dedicated to bringing you back to the days when cars where made of tough metal that both your daddy and granddaddy would be proud of. Now since we’re talking about generations here, let’s try to bridge the gap a bit by talking about a vehicle that’s currently making the headlines: The Chevrolet Camaro.

Thanks to the decision of Michael Bay to cast Bumblebee as a Camaro instead of a Beetle, this vehicle has since been garnering so much attention. Add to the fact that the concept 2010 Camaro used in the movie will be slated for a release next year, it’s no surprise that this “pony car” is making the headlines.

But even before its current run, the Chevrolet Camaro has already been recognized as an iconic car ever since its first generation debuted in September 1966. Slated to compete against the Ford Mustang (which enabled it to earn the moniker “Mustang Killer”), the first generation Camaro sported a 2-door trim and a rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform. The second generation still carried the same 2-door trim design and F-body platform, with only major changes done to its styling and performance.

The third generation Camaro on the other hand, took a huge step by being the first model to sport throttle body fuel injection, a Turbo-Hydramatic 700R4 four-speed automatic and five-speed manual transmission, a set of 15 inch or 16-inch wheels, and a rear window third brake light. The fourth generation debuted in 1993 and came in a coupe and convertible trim. Owners had a choice of having it equipped with a V-6 or V-8 engine, as well as a six-speed manual transmission. What made this version memorable were its new interior as well as its all-aluminum LSI engine, which was also used by the Corvette C5.

The fifth and current generation of the Camaro (which is now considered part of Transformers lore) takes inspiration from the 2006 Camaro Concept and 2007 Camaro Convertible Concept. Designed as a coupe with three types of trims (LS, LT, and SS trims), the new Camaro will be sporting either a V-6 engine capable of producing 300 hp or a V-8 engine that’s able to produce 422 hp. This version is slated for production on February 16, 2009.

So before looking forward to the upcoming release of the Camaro, remember that this isn’t the only time that this model has made waves. As a matter of fact, it’s never stopped making waves ever since it was first created. At the rate it’s going, the Chevrolet Camaro is headed towards the path of becoming one of the legends in the industry, if it hasn’t done that already.
