It is a fact that our friends form Japan have the weirdest, most out-of-this-world ideas around from Anime to perversive porn. No, it is not all about that. The people from Translogic decided to film a series of docus led by Bradley Hasemayer. Like a team of Nat Geo journalsts, Hasemayer and his team talk to a group of people who love souping up their scooters. Soe of the 250cc scooters are geared up with everything from neon lights to full air suspensions setups.

From one mod to another, Translogic also peeped through the Kaido Racer scene. Its inspiration came from the old school FIA Group 5 racing league. Among the legendary cars include the Porsche 917, Ferrari 512 and the Ford GT40 Mk 1.

Hasemayer also dug up the van modding culture. As the video reveals, you can’t help but be shocked in awe as no words could experess the uniqueness of their creation which borders between disturbingly creative and inventiveness. See the video for yourself to get my drift.

Race cars are defined by their looks, power, and speed. And the 1935 Monaco Trossi race car is no exception. Sporting a two-stroke, 16-cylinder radial engine, this can give today’s cars a run for their money. There is one drawback though. Because of its power and unbalanced weight distribution (75 for the front and 25 for the rear), it suffers from an uncontrollable oversteer. Since it’ll end up doing more harm than good, the race car was instead left to be displayed at the Museo dell’Automobile in Turin. While it’s a shame that we won’t see this vehicle take to the street, but with its problems, it’s better off locked up.

The previous owner of this 1961 Porsche RS61 must be grinning from ear-to-ear. That’s because this vintage vehicle was able to go on sale for a whopping $1.705 million. Sporting a 1.6-liter 547/3 boxer motor that can hit 160 horsepower, this vehicle was auctioned off by The Gooding & Company. We’re guessing that aside from the condition of the car (which looks excellent by the way), its reputation of being a popular racing vehicle may have had a hand in it being sold that high. Bottom line, this Spyder is definitely a catch.

Maintaining a vintage car can be difficult. That’s why if you’ll notice, most classic cars being sold out there tend to have a number of defects both inside and out. Of course, there are those few cars that have been properly looked after by their owners. Take for example this 1968 Porsche 911 T/R race car.

Before futuristic looking cars were considered cool, Mercedes-Benz had already started building them. One perfect example is the Mercedes-Benz T80.

Designed by Ferdinand Porsche, this vehicle was created (and even approved by Hitler) so that it could surpass the world land speed record during that time. Initially, Porsche was aiming for the car to hit the speed of 550 km/h or 342 mph. However, as time went by, the designer decided to aim higher and pegged his desired speed to be at 750 km/h or 465 mph.

So to help Mercedes-Benz achieve this feat, the T80 was given a 44.5 litre Daimler-Benz DB 603 inverted V12 engine. Inspired by the DB-601 aircraft engine, this engine allowed the vehicle to produce an amazing 3,000 horsepower at every outing.

Now how did this vehicle fair when tested? Well, unfortunately, failed to hit its projected numbers, managing to only notch the speed of 634 km/h or 394 mph. Yup, sad, but true.

After its attempt to meet the 750 km/h mark, Mercedes-Benz decided to shelve the car and instead left it on display at the Mercedes-Benz Museum located in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt. It remains to be seen though, whether the company will once again attempt to have the T80 tested in the near future. Hopefully, Mercedes-Benz decides to do so.

During the 1930s, Mercedes-Benz toyed around with developing race cars. One prominent vehicle that the company was able to develop was the unique Mercedes-Benz W125 Rekordwagen.

The Mercedes-Benz W125 Rekordwagen was an experimental, high-speed automobile that was patterned after the company’s other vehicle, the Mercedes-Benz W125 Formel-Rennwagen. However, to set them apart, Mercedes had the W125 Rekordwagen equipped with a bigger MD 25 DAB/3 60 Degree V12 engine. This allowed the race car to produce 541 kW, which is equivalent to a whopping 725 horsepower at 5,800 rpm. In addition, it also gave the Mercedes-Benz W125 Rekordwagen Twin Rootes superchargers and a 4-speed manual transmission.

Due to the power it was able to produce, the Mercedes-Benz W125 Rekordwagen was able to achieve recorded speeds during its testing. Most notable was the speed achieved by Rudolf Caracciola, wherein he reached 432.7 km/h while testing the vehicle on a public road. However, testing came to an abrupt end when driver Bernd Rosemeyer was killed while trying to reach the highest speed possible.

Never released commercially, the Mercedes-Benz W125 Rekordwagen remains one of the unique and fastest cars ever produced by Mercedes-Benz. It’s safe to say that this vehicle was definitely way ahead of its time.

The last thing you’d expect in this life is for a luxury sedan to be converted into a race car. But it seems nowadays that the things you’d least expect to happen, well, tend to happen. So seeing this vintage Mercedes 300EL 6.3 converted to a race car should not come as a surprise to you.

Okay, being shocked to your core could be unavoidable. Let’s face it, not everyone is crazy enough to do something like this. Of course, that’s before the peeps from Bring-a-Trailer came in. Thanks to their bold desire to unleash something new, they decided to convert this luxury Mercedes 300EL 6.3 sedan into a race car.

So what can we expect from the revamped car? Well, it’s equipped with a M100 V8 engine that has the potential of reaching 300 horsepower. If that’s the case, then it’s estimated that the car could hit the 60 mph mark in just 6.5 seconds. Aside from having a powerful engine, it’s been fitted with unique racing seats covered in red upholstery and a racing steering wheel.

Although the Bring-a-Trailer had this unique ride auctioned on eBay, it apparently has been purchased based on our recent visit. Although we’re just guessing since the site is in German. At any rate, this car is too unique not to mention. So if you happen to be the new owner of this innovative ride, let us know how whether you’ve been able to outrace a Bentley.

What you’re looking at is a vehicle that paved the way for the creation of one of Ferrari’s racing division. Dubbed the Tipo 125 race car, this vehicle helped Ferrari founder, Enzo Ferrari, establish himself (and his car) from Alfa Romeo.

Thanks to its powerful 1.5-liter V12 engine, the Tipo 125 was able to make a name for itself and establish the Ferrari racing brand by leading two laps in the Circuito di Piacenza. Unfortunately, it failed to achieve victory due to a problem in its fuel pump.

Nonetheless, if it wasn’t for the Tipo 125 race car, Enzo Ferrari might still be with Alfa Romeo and the world would be without a Ferrari racing team to root for.

If you’re looking to add a vintage race car to your collection, then you might want to take a look at this classic Auto Union Type D race car. This bad boy went through two seasons of the European Grand Prix Championships (in 1938 and 1939). During its initial run, the Auto Union Type D race car sported a small, gasoline-powered engine that had three liters of displacement. That all changed when it was given an upgrade in 1939, allowing the race car to carry a two-stage supercharged engine. Thanks to this new engine, the Auto Union Type D race car was able to come close to reaching the 500 horsepower mark. Trust us when we say that pulling something like that was pretty amazing for a car to do during that time.

So if you’re interested in adding this unique Auto Union Type D race car, be sure that you’re present at the Bonhams & Butterfields auction. The auction will be held on August 14 in Carmel California. Of course, getting this car doesn’t come cheap. Prepare to pay the hefty price of $8 million dollars just to take home this baby. However, trust us (again) when we say that it’s going to be money well-spent. After all, how many cars can actually brag about running over a bison and then live to tell the tale?
