What would you do if you had $8 million? Most of us would probably invest in on numerous properties, gadgets, jewelries, or brand new cars. But not everyone would think of using this amount to buy just one vintage car. That wasn’t the case at the Monterey Auction held last August 15. During the event, a classic 1965 Shelby Daytona Coupe was auctioned off for $7.25 million. So what was so special about this ride? Well, a lot actually. For starters, it’s one out of six cars built by Carroll Shelby to combat Ferrari in the F.I.A. (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) World Manufacturers Championship. Second, this vehicle actually won the 1964 Daytona Continental race. Oh, and the third reason? It was driven by renowned race car driver Bob Bondurant. Given these reasons, it’s no surprise that someone was willing enough to fork up almost $8 million for this classic beauty.
